This week we talk to Paul King.

Q1.  What roles and ministry do you serve in at St Nicholas?

Currently none! I have recently been accepted as an ‘aspirant’ in the Diocese of Bunbury. This means I have to step down from any ‘official’ roles or ministry while I discern a calling to ordained ministry. Previously I have assisted with Sunday community lunches,  prayer and readings, and the Alpha small groups, and will continue to help in different ways in the future.

Q2.  Have you always been a Christian?

I was blessed to be raised in a Christian household and looking back I can see God’s hand on my life from a very young age.  I made a commitment to following Jesus and was confirmed when I was about 16. Since then I have continued to learn and grow in my walk with God, with many bumps and troughs along the way.

Q3.  What helps you daily with your walk with Jesus?

I try to pray in bed each morning before I get up. It helps me to centre on Jesus before I get distracted by the day’s business, although I often fall back asleep! I also try to be aware of God’s presence during my day, making sure I haven’t mentally left him at home.

Q4.  Favourite Hymn or worship Song?

I struggle to reduce this down to a single song, but I really like a somewhat obscure U2 song ‘Falling at Your Feet’. It helps me to get into a posture of surrender before God.

Q5.  What do you enjoy doing?

It seems I enjoy studying and learning, because I am doing an awful lot of it lately. Especially I am enjoying studying some theology units. Family time is also precious to me. I have been known to brew beer occasionally, but not for a while now…
