In Colossians, Paul writes

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.  Colossians 1:19-23

We serve the gospel, not the reverse.

As Peter said in Acts 4: 12 in answer to the interrogation by the Sanhedrin ‘Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

This is the offence of the gospel; everyone is invited but there is no other way to that glorious reconciliation with God than through faith in Jesus.

As Paul says in Romans 1:16 ‘ I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew then for the Gentile. ‘

Are we ashamed or are we rejoicing? Will we prayerfully seek opportunities to share in God’s mission of reconciliation? Who will we invite to Alpha this year? Are we afraid to share? Take the opportunity to receive prayer ministry at our Sunday gatherings.
